Become a Mentor

Each and every man or woman who is released from prison into the community needs a trusting friend who can be a positive role model. He or she needs someone to help navigate the difficult path from a life of crime to a positive life as a contributing member of society. Many times, those released from prison have no one in their lives who can fill this essential role. Without this kind of influence in their lives, it is very likely that they will fail in their attempts to change.

Would you consider becoming a mentor for a transitioning former offender, one who is serious about changing her or his life for the better? New Creations has many years of experience in training and supporting men and women from the community, especially those from churches, to fill this role in someone's life through the TOP Program.

For information on becoming a mentor through the TOP Program, please call (313) 875-3883, ext. 10.

FACTS

For every three people released from prison, two will return within four years-if we are unwilling to help them.

A study showed that TOP graduates were 10 times less likely to return to prison.

WORDS FROM OUR PARTNERS

“Mentor training makes our members more sensitive in terms of the work of the ministry of Christ. It causes them to look not at the person, but at the potential . . . I have seen improvement in interpersonal skills . . . It has also improved their leadership skills. They make their voices heard regarding the needs of the community."

Pastor Alfred Knight
Senior Pastor, Power of the Word Worship Center
