What Others Have to Say About New Creations
"New Creations has been successfully delivering essential reentry services to returning offenders in Wayne County since 1993. I see them as a valuable partner in the Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative."
~ Pat Caruso, Director Michigan Department of Corrections
"One of our biggest problems in the criminal justice system is the recidivism rate. For every 3 people released, 2 will return within 4 years . . . TOP helps to prevent this. TOP helps them stay on the right track and make good decisions and choices in their lives."
~ The Honorable Gershwin Drain, 3rd Circuit Court, Detroit
"Mentor training makes our members more sensitive in terms of the work of the ministry of Christ. It causes them to look not at the person, but at the potential . . . I have seen improvement in interpersonal skills . . . It has also improved their leadership skills. They make their voices heard regarding the needs of the community.
~ Pastor Alfred Knight, Senior Pastor, Power of the Word Worship Center
"There is nothing glamorous about mentoring. There is nothing but your Holy Ghost drive to motivate you to give your all . . . there is satisfaction from watching a person grow and come into his own. The growth may not be there early on . . . but we can rely on what the Scripture says . . . one plants, one waters, but God gives the increase - 1 Corinthians 3:6 ASV"
~ Minister Manuel Peace, TOP Program Mentor, Tabernacle Baptist, Detroit, MI
"Every now and then there is an idea which is so important that we call it a special opportunity. We believe TOP® was one of those special opportunities . . . TOP® achieved and exceeded almost all of its goals . . . It is extremely successful!"
~ Dr. Tyrone Baines, Program Officer(retired) W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Detroit, MI
"I commend the TOP Program for its participation in the lives of those who come out of prison. I've seen great results when they come out of the program. I consider TOP an oasis in a dessert. If you want to grade the TOP program, I would grade it an A+."
~ Pastor Alvin Jackson, Senior Pastor, Wings of Love Baptist Church
What Participants Have to Say About New Creations
"(The leaders of CHAMPS) were basically teaching the children how to handle the pain of having a loved one incarcerated and how to handle that emotion. They got a chance to meet other children who had a parent incarcerated. They got a chance to open up with other children. My children realized that they were not the only ones who had a parent incarcerated. It was truly a blessing."
~ Chandra Jackson, Mother of CHAMPS Participant
"When we went to the TOP Program we heard the Word of God. It was like those subtle points that let you know that all is well, that although you did dirt and although you committed crimes, God still loves you and God forgives you. The TOP Program helps you to understand that."
~ John Kelley, TOP Graduate
"The reentry program was the best thing that happened for me. I was introduced to the TOP Program as part of my reentry program. Coming to the TOP Programs has changed my way of thinking. I has changed my life 100%. I feel so much better about myself. I feel I can do anything I put my mind to."
~ Connie Doss, TOP Program Graduate
"When I first came to the program, I most seriously did not want to be there. I did not feel they could really help me with what I was facing, re-entering society from prison. After I began putting forth the effort and applying to myself the things covered in the group sessions, I truly began to see and experience the benefits and blessings associated with surrounding yourself with positive people and influences and submitting yourself to a way of living conducive to progression. A lot of the changes in my attitude and disposition I can attribute to the efforts of those involved with this particular program."
~ Karlton L. Ward, Sr., TOP Program Graduate
"I thought that as a 46-year-old ex-felon and single mother, getting a second chance would be hard for me after being released from prison in 2004. But by the grace of God and the TOP program, I have found adjusting and transitioning back into the community fairly easy. TOP gave me confidence and a brighter outlook on life by preparing me with job search skills, the opportunity to receive my GED, transportation, life skills and substance abuse classes. By attending TOP, I have something to do that's positive every day. Life is good. I'm so grateful."
~ Cathy Carter, TOP Program Participant
